I'm retired and have an EU Irish passport. When I was recently in Spain, Alicante, I applied for my NIE, which I got within 15 minutes, first step haha.

I recently contacted the overseas health service, they asked me a number of questions etc. I received the paperwork a couple days ago, all completed.

I know I have to hand the papers in (unsure where?) when I'm back in Spain next month.

I have to apply for residency within the 90 day rule and from what I've read, I need to apply for residency before I begin the SI over there?

TIE, when is this actually done and also where in Calpe is the SS office, sorry I can't remember the exact name?

I now have a long-term rental apartment in Calpe and a copy of the rental contract, it's in Spanish as well as English 🙂

Basically, I think I'm in need of step by step instructions 🙄

Many thanks

Tricia

With an irish passport you don't need to apply for the TIE, read from the link below and all will be explained......

This link will provide additional information on how to register your S1. This is not an official Spanish Government site therefore information may not be up-to-date but I followed the instructions last year and it worked:

You have to fill in the Modelo Ex18. All the instructions are on this link. You go to the nearest Policia Nacional Station/Office. Mostly you have to make an appointment/cita previa. You will have to have all the documentation requested. The originals and always best to have copies also.

Thank you for the information. I went to the website and there is an option to download the X18 form, however, when I clicked on the download tab it tells me that the page doesn't exist 🙄

This link is from Policia Nacional site. Hopefully it opens for you.  Toggle down to Modelos de Formularios. You will also see Modelo 790 to pay the fee. Which looks like €12. You will need the receipt from that as part ofvyour documentation.

When you get your T.I.E. take it and your S1 to the local health centre to register yourself, and you'll be issued a S.I.P. card
