We are staying in the La Fustera district and would like to visit the old town of Calpe tomorrow evening. Which is the best local taxi company to use? Would prefer to be able to call them when we need the return journey rather than pre-book a certain time.

http://www.taxicalpe.es/ Try their website; there are several taxi outfits in calpe, all perfectly honest/efficient, but I think this one may have a ‘cab rank’ in the Gabriel Miro where one could presumably simply pick up a taxi.

Many thanks! We speak a bit of Spanish but will obviously sound like tourists so did not want to be ripped off. Will give them a go.

I honestly think it unlikely that you would be ‘ripped off’ by official taxi firms in this area. Unregistered drivers, perhaps.

TaxiCalpe would not pick us up & told us that we needed to call a taxi from Benissa.
I have called the only one we can find which is Asociacion De Radio Taxis Local de Benissa and nobody answers the phone - you can only leave a message.
Looks like we're in the wrong place to get a taxi easily so we've given up on the idea.

Refer to my original reply. Also if you look up taxis calpe there are at least 4 major firms.
