There are 3 main companies - Movistar (Spanish) Vodafone (international) Orange (French).Plus various other smaller players, all of whom are using the services of one of the above 3 usually.
All the main players offer good coverage; from what I have seen, prices not dissimilar to UK depending upon your requirements. The only caveat I would make is that as far as I understand the contracts here, there is no allowance for ‘text’, these being charged over and above your contract allowance. Hence the reason absolutely everybody uses WhatsApp.
You pays your money and you takes your pick!!!!
