At the time when their meter readings were high and nobody had been staying there, people said either someone with key was staying there, meter was faulty or someone was hacking in to their electricity.

One of my sons has taken 7 MONTHS to get an answer of sorts.

They have proved that in fact our boys are paying for someone else’s meter in the next block.  Although they have photographic evidence that we are paying for the wrong meter Iberdrola are still saying it’s down to our sons paying to get this mess sorted out.  Absolutely disgusting.  One of our sons is going out there next week and was told although they’ve got all this evidence , someone MAY go to the apartment whilst he’s there for 11 days.  They’ve had no help from urbanisation or the President.

So frustrating all you get told is this is Spain.

Anybody got any helpful advice please.

I, m speechless!! Been following this thread with amazement. If this happened in Uk, you would receive compensation for their incompetence. What a nightmare, good luck on sorting it all out, its a disgrace.

Thanks so much Pauline, it has been a complete nightmare from beginning, fingers crossed our son flying out tomorrow can get some sort of closure, I think otherwise the only other alternative is to cancel electric and stop direct debit.

Only problem with doing that would be you still have the same problem of wrong technical specification and even an alternative supplier will still possibly get same result. They need to send someone out to check the meter no. and rebill accordingly, that doesn't sound too difficult. When your son is there he needs to also take down the correct meter no and always check against future bills.

Good luck

Thanks Pauline, he has checked our meter, the other meter and we are definitely paying for next blocks meter, Iberdrola are just being stubborn, first saying they couldn’t get in the meter room, which they can, because security will let them in and they can get in our apartment, my son has so looked into this and we are paying for another meter, we know the number of it but they are just stalling as the boys don’t live there, let’s hope D can sort it out when he’s there in this next week, will keep you informed, thanks for caring

Hi all,

latest on this very annoying saga.  My son has heard from Iberdrola saying that. Even though they agreed when someone went to look at the meters that he was indeed paying for someone  else’s meter, that he was wrong to stop direct debit as the debt is still his as it’s in his name.  Have you ever heard anything like it, they make their own rules up as they go along. They are now saying although they admit he’s paying for someone in the next blocks meter(been proved with photographs) he has to get a private electrician to sort it all out.  He was looking forward to going out in beginning of April for a break as he has a very stressful job, as do many other people, but instead he’s been told he must pay for an electrician.

Anyone got any ideas how to get a fair end this sorry saga.  Someone else got in touch a while ago saying who did my son speak to at Iberdrola as they know they are paying for someone else’s meter, and Iberdrola don’t want to know.  How many more people must this be happening too.

Thanks, Norma

Oh Norma your nightmare goes on, I can't believe Iberdrola are asking you to find an independent electrician when it's obviously their fault, unless they need roof the "other user" has illegally tapped into your source. Can't you get a solicitor to intervene? What about getting your story in Costa Blanca News? I did this many yrs ago regarding a ransacking and the new Ave stealing our land. It could spark some interest in others feeling they are in same situation. I shall await a further update but given all the extra money paid out by your sons for consumption of someone else's use by now my solicitor would have been involved and demanding compensation too.

Hello

I'm sure it would cost you more & take many months or  more to get a solicitor involved than to pay an electrician.

Not ideal I know  & you probably won't agree, but life is so short, I would be inclined to get an electrician to assess the problem asap & offer advice/help or a solution via a quote.... then you can move on.

Cheers
