Hi, can anyone advise if it is possible to just visit the medical centre at campoamor and see a doctor, or is it better to try to make an appointment? Also will we have to pay? I have applied for our GHIC cards but they have not arrived yet so we will have to ring and get a provisional certificate if needed.

My wife has developed a bad skin rash and swollen face. We’ve tried all the antihistamine and steroid creams but no joy. It is getting worse.

thank you for any help!

Hello

It;s very unlikely you will be able to see anyone at the medical centre without being on the spanish health system &  with a SIP card.

I presume you dont have any  kind of health insurance  cover, so I think you could  either go to a farmacia and see what they recommend for the rash or find a private Dr. in your area & make an appt - you will, of course have to pay for that apt. & medication.

Cheers

Hi Jessiepat123,

I understand that you´ve applied for GHICs, but do you have EHICs that are still in date (they are valid until their expiry date)?  If so, you could visit A&E at either Torrevieja Hospital or Vega Baja Hospital, or your local health centre.  If not, you need to follow the advice already given by Elinspain.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Jessiepat123

As you are probably aware,  your wife seems to be having an allergic reaction to something.    She may need to take an antihistamine tablet/s as creams have limited use.

Any new medications, creams,  soaps or foods recently?   If so try to stop using or eating those new items.

Elinspain has given you good advice.

Swelling of face could mean that inside throat could also swell and that would mean you need to get urgent help by phoning an ambulance.  Dial 112

Hope all settles down soon.

Regards

Maria

Hi,

There is a private doctor above the farmacia just off the roundabout end of cabo roig strip/campoamor ! He will see you straight away (usually) there is a charge of 50-60€ but worth it. Then you can collect your prescription from the farmacia downstairs!

Hope all goes well !

                   Regards karen.

Thanks everyone, after not getting any help at campoamor med centre, we went to the pharmacy at punta prima where a very helpful pharmacist gave us a course of steroid tablets which appear to be doing the trick. Fingers crossed things look on the mend thank you
