Hi all.

My name is Steve my wife and I are looking to move over permanently in the near future. We have never been to this area before. We are looking for some advice. We will probably be coming over in April or may. Can you advise on the cost of living. Gas,electricity, food, petrol, tax.the usual amenities. We live in cornwall at the moment. Our budget is around £135k sterling. We are after true feed back.bars restaurants.shops.I understand that everyone has an opinion so any help would be greatly appreciated..

In an ideal world we would like a 3 bed 2 bathroom detached villa with a private pool. And be able to walk to the amenities.

Many thanks

Steve.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum!

I can't help you with the location of Castalla, as I'm a little further south, near Guardamar del Segura.  But I can help with your costings.  Are you familiar with Excel spreadsheets?  If so, and you're happy to send me your email address by private message, I can send you an extract from my budget workbook, which lists our annual spend, month by month, in a 3 bed, 3 bath detached house with private pool.

I did a quick search on www.kyero.com and it appears you may be able to get the sort of property you want within your budget.  Just bear in mind that, in addition to the cost of the property, you will need a further 13-14% to cover ITP ( purchase tax) and buying fees, e.g. lawyer and notary.  So, if your budget is £135k, you need to be looking at properties around £120k.

Kind regards,

Kim
