Good morning,

I’m just looking for any information and/or advice on living in castalla international full time. Are there many full time residents ? Are there any facilities to walk too I.e bars etc that are open all year. I have read that it is cold in winter...how cold compared to the U.K. for example ? I live in Norfolk currently. Is there anything I should look out for when considering buying property....i.e are they all fully legal ?

Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Hi there

Hope all is well and I assume you are house hunting, to answer your questions:

There are many full time residents so will not feel isolated or alone, there is a pub, corner shop and bar/cafe.

We just experienced our first winter which i was told was unusually colder than usual. However, yes it does get cold in the evenings and early morning especially, you will need some form of heating.

We live in Castalla itself as wanted to be in the town with easy access to supermarkets, bars etc and mix with the Spanish. i assume that an urbanization appeals more to you (what made you choose CI?) and Castalla International has some very friendly and helpful people. If you need to know more please just message me.

As for the properties they will all be fully legal, if you need help looking or advice to purchase our friend Teresa is English and works at http://spain-forsale.com/ real estate company in town with lots of properties for sale including CI, just phone her or email her and tell her John and Suzy recommended you.

All the best in your search

John

Hi John,

Really appreciate your response and the information you have given.

To be honest I do not know the area well but it seems it’s possible to get a decent sized property for a reasonable price on Castilla international and was looking for some general information before deciding to come and view. Cant say I’m a great fan of urbanisations and like you would like to integrate with the locals if possible, but If I found the right property in the right area then it would be fine.

I have been looking at the Valencia area and viewed a few earlier this year but didn’t see anything in my price range that appealed to me.

I assume you haven’t been their long ? How are you finding it ? Are the winters as long and cold as the U.K. there?

I will have a look at the website, thankyou.

Thanks again for your response

Stevan

Hi Stevan

There is plenty of property about on CI and in the town some nice apartments or townhouses some may need a bit of work but that can be done relatively cheap here. There are other towns like Onil and Sax which are nice too, in fact the whole area is lovely. We are loving it here and do not want to return to the UK even short trips back there we find depressing now lol.

Winters are not that bad I think was mid Jan to end of March we found coldest but days are still pleasant and Lot more sunshine. Let’s just say I never had to scrap ice off my car lol.

Speak to Teresa she will guide you regards obtaining an NIE and bank account which you will need to buy a property. The website is not fantastic by any means but if can get over a few days to look around and view some property you will get a better feel for it here. Everyone is friendly and the pace of life is lovely. Oh and of course airport and beaches just some 30 mins away and if is little cold one day you can just drive to the coast for the day and find it 5 or 6 degrees warmer. Always remember summer is almost near and last a lot longer which is the main thing.

Any other questions (sure there are many) please just ask

Regards

John

Hi John,

I think the next step for me will be to come over and look at a few properties which I am going to try and do in the next few weeks. I will certainly contact Teresa before coming, thanks for the recommendation.

From what you have said and from what I have read it sounds really nice there so look forward to seeing for myself.

Thanks again for your information so far and will certainly be in touch if/when I have more questions...hope you don’t mind.

Thanks again

Stevan

Hi Stevan

We are not fulltime residents and only bought last year

We looked along the coast to buy before we found Castalla International  I had the same concerns as yourself in regards to the temperature so rented a place for a week in October before we put an offer on a house

We came over last November and I found the temperature during the day still warm but our villa was very cold at night as we only have a gas fire. Most fulltime residents have log burners

People here very friendly and more of a village then an urbanision as the urbanision is  not gated and also offers an Endlish bar, Spanish bar, shop and communal swimming pool

There are two main estate agents Rual properties and Habitat one who both have websites. There are some illegal properties on the urbanizion but we used a solicitor do do our searches, NIE numbers , bank and utility bills and only used the estate agent to buy the house

Castalla town is very traditional with lovely old buildings
