Need to buy a used car and leave in Spain whilst I'm in the uk.

Can anyone recommend a dealer who sells reasonably priced vehicles but who can do the necessary paperwork.

Also I have heard of companies whom specialise in long term airport parking, recommendations please??

Regards

Karen

I did this (buying) and used autosdirect.es........take a look at their website.   I cannot praise them enough. Dealt  - Paul King.(owner) and Alex- she dealt with sending me photos etc ........ my husband is now going to either have them convert his UK car or buy LHD from them- we were both extremely impressed by the service we got.......

Sorry don't know about parking ........

good luck

there are lots of Brits returning to the UK who have car to disposed of and all companies who will do the paperwork for you. So why don't you try advertising locally

Forgive my response if it is not the answer you are looking for, but there may be an alternative suggestion!

When I arrived in Spain, until I bought a car (I now live here) I used www.doyouspain.com and obtained a hire car for as little as 0.08€ per day, yes, 8cents per day! (PLEASE email me about who NOT to use on that website though!!!)

It may pay for you to do your math because IF you are away more than you are here you could consider the purchase cost, insurance, maintenance and parking compared to the long rental option when you are in Spain.

You pick the car up at the airport and drop it back off their when you leave, NO parking charges!

A further note would be to utilise https://www.icarhireinsurance.com for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance which will cost you about £40 per year for European cover. This avoid that additional £200 per fortnight charge for CDW that the car hire provider forces upon you, unless you demonstrate you have your own insurance. They will still block 1000€ or so on your card for damage deposit.

Hope that helps? May be worth considering!

Finally, IF you happen to have the car hire provider claim you have damaged the vehicle then please contact me and I will explain the process of getting your money back! I successfully got 1200€ back from the crooked hire firm who tried to get the better of me!

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I use doyouspain at the moment.

The reason I am considering buying a car is 3 of our children have now passed their driving test within the last year, youngest being19. None of them have access to a credit card and therefore unable to leave the required deposit should the rental company even allow them to hire a vehicle.

Can't see a way round this apart from buying a car, if you have a solution please advise.

Regards

Karen

Before you actually buy a car to be used by young drivers, especially those without a no-claims history, check what insurance will be.

In Spain it's the car that's insured, but policies usually restrict drivers to a minimum age of 25. You could well find out that there's a massive premium if you want the insurance to cover younger drivers.
