Hi
Can anyone please explain to me what needs to be done and how difficult is it to retire and move to Spain post brexit
If anyone has just gone through this could you suggest someone who could guide us through the process
Kind regards
Jon

Very helpful member
Hello
This is from the Spain Tips & Guides section of this forum
How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)
Several members have now completed the process of obtaining Visas and have moved here and are applying for residencia. One of them wrote his own guide of the process
Cheers

You will need to apply for a non lucrative visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.
The income requirements for the first person is around €27,000 per annum plus around €6,500 per annum for each additional person.
You will need to prove you have full healthcare paid for a full year.
There are additional requirements such as police checks etc

Hi
Thanks for that, I had been told that the amount of income had been reduced from 27K but you have confirmed that it hasn't
Unfortunately although we will have savings in the bank my pension will not amount to that much.
Uts probably time to look elsewhere , maybe Portugal !
Thanks again

Do get in touch with Uma at getlegalinspain.com. Spain is obviously your first choice so don't give up too easily, have a chat with her, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
All the best.

It not a good idea to engage the services of companies in Spain when the very first thing that needs to be done is to apply for a non lucrative visa whilst still living in the UK otherwise it could get very expensive.

Hi Cheryl
Thank you for that, yes certainly will do, you never know do you.
Thanks again
Kind regards

If the OP doesn't qualify, what's the point?
I believe Uma may give the first consultation for free anyway then it is up to them how they proceed. If they go ahead then the NLV is the first official step and they are free to choose who represents them or if they want to go it alone.
If I had known Uma at this stage in my move to Spain, I would have saved quite a few grey hairs. Uma charges only for work done, not an annual retainer and she did my Spanish driving licence, my daughter's non-resident tax and our annual tax returns and I can stop any of them at any time. The price she charges is always well worth it to me.
You wil need a retirees visa or go self employed. Google both for best info. If you have any descendants from Southern Ireland you might be able to get a Irish passport.
