Mayor letter of Confirmation ~ No Demolitions

Whether or not the story is true, it's not up to the mayor to decide, as it's the Valencian authority who have the final say.

This saga has been dragging on for quite a few years, and anyone thinking of buying an illegal build needs to take into consideration the costs of possible legalisation. For example, changing a septic tank to one which is deemed acceptable will cost several thousand euros.

I have lived in Spain for 16 years, 10 of them in Catral so you will realize that I am fairly familiar with the situation.

I know of several people who have paid solicitors between 500 and 1,700 euros having been told that there are sufficient grounds to defeat the demolition letters such as wrong name, wrong address, not meeting self imposed deadlines, and none have had a reply.

One such person was told by his barrister that this is highly political and Valencia will not enter into any correspondence.

I was attempting to obtain to obtain some official confirmation of the generally known situation that the properties will not be demolished to assist in the sale of my house.

Incidentally, we have the new tank with certificate, Certificate of Antiquity,1,etc, etc.

We have been round the treadmill and even paid the 1%, which was illegal but will not be paid back

I was told that all the info for the illegal houses is out of Catral and Dolores hands as it is with Valencia, also Madrid regarding the houses built on Hondo as it is a National Park.

So all we can still do is sit and wait, the Mayor can do nothing at this time.

Houses are being made legal as Valencia hand back the relevent paperwork for each one.
