We have now got smart new rubbish  bins with details of what they need in each colour, the surrounding ground has been beautifully cemented and everything is pristine clean. One question - how do you get into the cage?

Hello

If they are the same grey bins with coloured lids that Torrevieja are now using, there is a bar on one side to press down with your foot --- that opens the lid

Cheers

Hi Heathray

I cannot understand the logic of caging all the bins in and locking the cage.  I’ve seen people just leaving everything outside the cage.  I’ll ask my Spanish friend who lives in Camero if she can shed some lights on this.

No. These bins are open but they are in an enclosure which is locked. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Thanks. I would be grateful if someone could tell me.

I suspect this is a system which we have been promised. In principle, as I understand it, the Ajuntamiento is issuing keys to registered householders. Suggest you go and ask them.

Evening. Yes I’ve just heard the same - impossible situation if this is the case.  I wonder what documentation they will require to give you an access key and would it involve an annual fee ?  Let’s wait and see.    The system is not making it easy for us to recycle, who would want to unlock gate, recycle and lock gate afterwards ?

Hi,

After visits to the town hall, Suma office and another dealing with rubbish (can't remember the name)  I found out that at present they do not have the keys for distribution.  We will eventually get a notice giving us instructions on how to acquire the key. In the meantime it seems the gate cannot be left open so we must continue leaving the rubbish wherever we can access a bin!  Watch this space.....

Good luck
