Hello everyone;

since the day we moved to Costa Blanca, my dog wears SERESTO collar, because we were told, that's the best protection. It has been a year and I am seriously thinking to get rid of the collar, full of chemicals and replace, because that must be some natural equivalent. I have spent hours on the net, finding essential oils good for dogs.

I would like to know if any of you have any good experience with better choice, equally protective for our pets.

Thank you

Mia

Seresto collar  is the only thing that helped my dog I tried every other flea treatment on the market from the vet. I order mine from my vet so if it was unsafe why do I have to have a prescription to get it ,I would be more worried about other products like frontline.

The Seresto collar only lasts for a maximum of eight months so you could remove it.

That's not what I was asking about...

I'm looking for a replacement without chemicals

I am not sure whether you read my message properly. English is not my native language...could it be possibly I didn't express myself throurougly??

Seresto is loaded with chemicals. And that means, it is not the safest for my dog (or any dog). We don't store one single medicated drug at home for us as humans, we don't, if possible, to do the same for our dog. I was simply inquiring for natural suplement for this collar.

Seresto is not prescribed in our area. Prescription doesn't mean the product is safe.

We run an animal sanctuary and have done for several years. We use Seresto collars because they are the best all round protection.

There is no natural products We have found and we have been looking I promise you.

My boy is super allergic to all types of collar and liquid treatments.

I was given this advice from a old time vet when I lived in Andalusia.

In March I always give my (German Shepherd X Husky 40 kilos very hairy) oral treatment from the vet, sorry can't remember name and always add a few drops of apple cider vinegar every day to all his drinking water. Haven't seen a flea or tic in 12 years.

May help you, certainly won't harm.

Apple cider vinegar is a great helper. I use it (1:1 with water) for my pup's ear infection, Never hadto go to do antibiotics. It has always treated it all. And our vet checked and confirmed.

But... I still prefer natural product. I will be trying to find some. It is not just about tickes and fleas, it's the sand mosquito harrasing the dogs around here (as I was told) and that can have unpleasant consequences.

Thank you

I don't have problems with any flying insects. The old vet used to live in the village we moved to in the Campo all the dogs were treated this way, even the goat dogs. I'm on the coast now less chance of bugs but I would not stop. As I said before your dog will not be harmed by doing this, it could work for him/her
