Hello, we are planning on moving to catral next year ( subject to current situation improving of course), I would like to continue my interest in pigeon racing and wondered if anyone knows of any pigeon fanciers in or around catral?

We are also seeking rental accomdation. Seeking 2/3 beds with some land and pool, if anyone knows of anything available from june/ July 2021. Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum,

You would have hit the jackpot in catral for pigeon racing!

You regularly see them flying around and time trails etc ....Iam not 100% sure where the clubs meeting place is but it’s between catral and Callosa area in the countryside.

Also in the nearby village of Benijofer I know of a bar just up the Main Street which is adorned with pigeon trophy’s / pictures etc and iam sure any locals would point you in right direction.

Also I know a story locally that men have gone to prison for stealing prized birds etc so it’s definitely taken seriously especially around these areas!

How you will get on with the language barrier if you don’t speak Spanish I do nt know  but your have a common interest in the birds so that’s a great starting point!

Once out here it will be a mini adventure to find all this out! Good luck and enjoy spain!

Hi we live on the outskirts of Catral on the way to Callosa, we have had racing pigeons in our garden and have phoned the number on the rings. Some collect and one guy didnt bother and unfortunately the pigeon died as it wouldnt take any food or water i tried to give it.  There is a bar in Dolores which is full of trophies and photos of racing pigeons.

Thanks for this it's very helpful. The language will be an issue, but we are learning the basics. We travel to Catral on a regular basis as my partners mother lives their.

I'm just making enquiries at this stage, but thanks again

That's sad that the bird died and surprising and in general pigeon fanciers will do anything to get their birds back.

Next time we are over I will have to fund that bar... any excuse for a beer.
