Hi everyone, we are going to purchase a property in catral and have been reading about what I need to open a bank acc in Spain. My question is do I need to apply for an nie number or will my uk passport be ok.

You need an NIE first.

We got our NIE and then headed to sabadell and opened our bank account we needed the NIE and passports.

Your solicitor handling the purchase will do everything for you. Obtain your NIE and open a bank account on your behalf

Opened an account with Sabadell in Dénia with just passport and rental agreement.

Hi i only needed my passport and proof of income, ie a recent (last 3 months) payslip or my last P60, no NIE needed

i just opened Sabadell Sight account and sent 10k euros from Germany so no exchange costs but got 9974,51 so looks like they took 25 euros for doing it which is 0.25%...i didnt think it would cost me anything...is this normal?

thanks for the reply, someone said you pay 25 per quarter and i sent 2 more payments which didnt attract a deduction so that must be it, but as you say once i become a local they dont take.
