There have been quite a few queries recently about when an ITV need to be done if coronavirus got in the way. This link and the picture below give the relevant dates.

Note that after 21 June it is due on the stated expiry date and there is NO extension.

Unfortunately there have been a couple of people asking about their ITV running out in August or September and they were pointed at an extension to next year, which is incorrect.

At the time I couldn't find the above table, but now we have it on record.

The extended period between ITV dates has been a very sensible idea and benefitted drivers residing in Spain during the State of Alarm. Personally I think it would be a fair descision ,if made, to allow a further extension for people entering the country who own a vehicle in Spain, and who's ITV has expired ,whilst outside of the Country since the middle of March this year .

From no fault of their own they face a worrying dilemma over how to obtain an ITV on their vehicle if ( a), it is parked up in long stay parking area near Airports etc, or if (b), it is parked up elsewhere, I.e. at their Holiday second home or even worse on the roadside.

Agreed, some Airport parking facilities do offer an ITV service as an addition to their parking contracts but that only minimises the problem and doesnt solve the majority of cases.

If stopped by Police , for instance, driving from the Airport parking, or from wherever the vehicle may be parked, a 7 day period of grace from the drivers date of arrival would be fair and usually be enough time to have allowed the vehicle to obtain an appointment and be driven to an ITV station .

Paperwork Carried in the vehicle demonstrating  Proof of date of arrival of the Driver, which in the majority of cases would be the Airport, could be used to verify the 7 date period of grace .

Insurance companies would also have to come on board with the idea too. Presumably they have done in relation to the periods of grace outlined in the table provided above, by RayD

Unfortunately the Spanish authorities do not appear to have considered ,in particular, the Foreign second home owner drivers, who contribute financially to the economy of the country, many who have been left in this predicament !

Ray my neighbours have asked me to take their car for an itv. Can I do that? Nicola.

I don't see why not, as long as you can drive and are over 26 for the insurance 😀

What's the difference between you taking it for an ITV and an anonymous mechanic?
