Spotted on N322 on FB today...

Local Police in Mazarrón (Murcia) is removing from the public road all registered vehicles uninsured and untaxed, including those registered with foreign plate numbers.

For example, through the DVLA link, Officers check if the vehicle is taxed and has the MOT, when they find out that the vehicle is registered "as off the road (SORN)", they automatically remove it to the Police Station.

What fine can I get?

- No MOT; 200euros

- Uninsured; from 601 to 3.005 euros, depending on the vehicle

- SORN or untaxed; 500 euros

The UK could take a leave out of their book on this one.

Good. About time. While they're at it, they need to stop and fine all the people driving in flip-flops and sliders. Waiting outside Aldi's for my other half for 10 minutes the other day and counted at least 30 drivers parking up and walking into the shops wearing them.

They've been doing this for years. I'm not sure if they now have an official direct DVLA link or just rely on the public access link https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax

Some years ago, I remember returning to my older UK registered car with friends and walking past a Traffico parked behind my car. My registration number was on the tablet that he was using and he was checking that it was taxed.

It's not illegal to drive work with flip flops.

True.

An example of when you repeat a myth often enough it morphes into 'fact'!

Kenneth1 is correct - as the Olive Press article states, "Motoring experts say that driving with flip-flops......is not expressly forbidden.......".  That said, I don't drive in them because I've heard of drivers getting them caught in the drive peddles:

https://n332.es/myth-busting-flip-flops/

Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Kind regards,

Kim
