Well at lesst the fingerprint reader worked first time, did not work for me after multiple attempts on 2 machines. You don't get asked the questions on health insurance, return ticket and sufficent funds in Spain, (or at least my wife did'nt when she registered successfully at Alicante airport). They must be optional.

All the above (health insurance, return ticket and sufficent funds ) have been requirements to travel to any country for more than 60 years, but in practice are rarely queried

Speaking to relations yesterday, when they flew into Malaga airport last month the same questions that Simon Calder ansrweed in his video were asked on the EES machines they used at Malaga airport.  Seems some regions ask, others do not.
