Good morning all,

please can anyone give info on heating apartment during winter months? My husband and I are coming over for 3 months January. Hopefully renting one, are the winter months very cold? Should we make certain heating is provided in apartment. Thinking of staying in Catral.

Thanking you in advance.

Stay safe Regina B.

Yes and yes.

It can drop to 5 degrees in Jan/Feb.

If you have a mid-floor flat, reverse-cycle air conditioners will usually suffice.

Some days it can be colder inside than out.

My advice would to get yourselves an electric blanket you wont regret it.

Recommend you find a south facing apartment so you get the winter sun, and as others have said A/C with inverter to keep the cost down of heating.

We’ve recently brought over heavy lined curtains, & put aircon on reverse 10 minutes before bed with duvet pulled back to warm the bed !

If you are renting a property you can ask in advance what type of heating it has before booking.  Bear in mind that if they say gas you need to check if they mean gas central heating (unlikely) or portable gas heater.  If just portable gas heaters then they do give off fumes and you need to ventilate the room while using them and they also give off moisture, so really not ideal.  As others have said, air con set on warm and/or electric wall heaters are usually enough.

Morning everyone,

Just to say thanks for all info given on my heating topic. Winter temperatures around Catral seem to be a bit like what we use to have in the Algarve. Hopefully we get an apartment in Catral January and meet some of you. Think after 31st December can only stay 3 months though?

Stay safe Regina B.

90 days max in any 180 days, for the whole Schengen area.  So if you are driving to Spain via France then you will need to include your travelling days in the 90 days.

Hi, am I right in thinking if I fly back to UK for a couple of days I can come back for another 90 days? Assuming 14 days quarantine is over.

Thanks Regina.
