Dear friends,

I started to search around along with my lifetime partner where in Europe we'd like to settle; I am entering Catral as the place to be at, but that is not the final verdict. We visited Santa Pola a drove around 6 weeks ago.

We have put our house for sale (Vancouver Island) and are preparing for our move to Spain. I have asked a few questions before and I got tons of advice from you. My next one would be about our medical insurance; what's the monthly pay for a medical insurance for the new arrivals?

Thank you

Mia

Wow Mia, you’re moving from Vancouver Island, why? It’s beautiful, it would be top of my list for places to live in the world. I heard that a lot of ex sea cruise captains who have seen the world move there.

You need to pay one year up front.

Contact Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurances - his advert is on this page.

I am from Slovakia; there is more than one reason why I need to go back to Europe. Vancouver Island is for some people, not for everyone, like any other place on this planet.

Thank you, Jim; I can see and advertisement for a Gran Alacant Insurance; There's no Alfonso name, but I am guessing that's the one you are recommending.

That's correct Mia. Alfonso has been highly recommended by many people on this forum, so get in touch with him.

Hi Mia

If you or your partner have a state pension then you can obtain free medical care once you have your identification documents (NIE).

Check the areas prone to flooding before you start looking for a property!    There are very many unfortunate people who have lost almost everything in the Catral, Dolores, Albatera, La Hoya areas.

Best of luck!

Richard

Hello Richard,

my spouse has Government pension. Do I still have to buy insurance?

Thank you for your feedback on properties. We saw some part of Catral, that seemed to be higher; yes we are aware of the flooding. We're still going to be researching other areas, but the Santa Pola area appealed to us the most.

Hi Mia

No, you do not have to pay insurance, you would be considered your husband's dependent.

Kind regards

Richard
