Has anyone got positive experience of a good health care provider that enables easy access to English speaking doctors? I’ve been doing lots of research ready for our visa application and got several quotes but was advised today to look for a company that has access to English speakers because of the difficulty if you are unwell if you can’t communicate and be understood.

They advertise on the forum and I have personal experience of the broker, Alfonso, going above and beyond during a recent claim. Prior to taking out both home and car insurance with him after many recommendations on here we had a lot of email contact and he answered all my questions. Everything is in English.

The alternative is to get yourself a translator ( for many occasions), then you can go to any Doctor. My translator is invaluable & I never go to my Salud without him as my kind helpful Dr. only speaks Spanish.

If using the Spanish health system a translator is usually needed as many will refuse to attempt to speak English for fear of mistranslations. For private medical insurance the staff are more likely to speak English.
Be prepared to travel some distance for treatment.

Hi Kerry,
If you need private health insurance, I would recommend ASSSA. Although I've had no major health issues, I've received excellent attention from my doctor's surgery in Coudad Quesada and also Torrevieja's private hospital, Quiron, without the need for a translator.
