Hello
We are a mature couple with a well behaved dog, looking to rent a house in Catral within walking distance of the centre.
We want to rent before we buy to make sure Catral is for us.
We are looking at January, February, March & April 2026.
There doesn't appear to be any rentals.
Can anyone advise or help?

It's all gone to hell in a handbasket.
You would qualify for a seasonal let as you would be looking for a permanent home but few are risking renting their properties as many tenants turn up with "references", pay the deposits and possibly a couple of months rent then they stop paying and it is an expensive process to get them out, especially if they can be classified as vulnerable. When the owner does eventually get them out the place is left ruined.
For 4 months, you would need to hold an EU passport or already be resident, otherwise the limit is 90 days.

At the moment we are trying everything and anything we can think of to try and find somewhere to rent.
My husband is an Irish passport holder, so the 90 day rule does not apply but appreciate your comment.

It won't apply to him, but I would think it will to you if you hold a British passport.

Not whilst they travel together it won't. Karen's 90 days only start ticking if she travels alone.

I you are in the area now I would suggest you have a walk through the streets behind the main street qhite a few properties round there
