Hello everyone- sending this message tonight hoping you are all keeping well and enjoying life?

My wife and myself are looking for an area to purchase a finca / villa property in the “South Costa Blanca” area.

We enjoy the beaches / playas but prefer to be away from the crowds and noise associated with Playa ( beach) area’s - so basically not too far away from the costa but near enough to travel by bicycle / car if we feel the need for sand and salt water on our feet.

Also to live within an area that as some night life.

As well as an area that as a mixture of Spanish and ex-pats NOT totally an ex-pat community.

Oh and most important- an area that is NOT flood stricken.

If anyone can give us some advise on your experience over the years, it would be great fully received.

Thank you

Hi Morf

Try Crevillent.  High enough not to have any mozzies yet warm enough in the winter and no flooding ever.  There are 122 restaurants within a 5 minute drive according to Google.   The high speed train (access to Europe and UK)  is 8 minutes drive and the autovia is 5 minutes: airport is

15 minutes: beach is 20 minutes away.   A decent finca will cost you about 200K - 350K.

If you need any more info PM me.

Regards  Richard

We purchased a house in lomas de campoamor two years ago and love the area. I'm not fit by any stretch of the imagination and I've walked to the beach, takes about 45 mins. You can also cycle along the side of the canal. we are a five minute walk from la Fuenta commercial centre where there are numerous really good resturants and bars, most of which are open all year round. There's also 2 supermarkets within the same area. 10 minutes drive to the beaches, and  la Zenia boulevard shopping centre. We went over and looked around on our own for 3 days then with an estate agent on a deal which cost us €99 for 3 nights in the golf hotel, including flights and they took us out every day. We thought it was the best way to do it. Good luck and enjoy!

We moved to Los Balcones, 3 years ago. Near the salt lakes, short drive or cycle to nearest beach.....or walk.

Not as touristy as some of the places mentioned but a short walk to about 10 bars/restaurants, supermarkets, hairdressers, Chinese shops etc.

Very close to the hospital!

As we come under Torrevieja, services are very good. Bins emptied daily.....twice in Summer, as an example.

About 45 min drive to Alicante airport and Murcia International.

We love it here, quiet but close to all we might want.

Good luck!

Yes, we can recommend Los Balcones too. We live in a small gated community of 50 properties, just off Lago Jardin 1. Lovely community spirit around here, with a good mix of different nationalities and a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Buses to Torrevieja are every 30 minutes and also regular buses out to San Miguel and Orihuela. I can’t say we’ve felt isolated during Lockdown! If I can be of any further help, please message me. We’ve lived her full time for nearly 2 years, and are very happy. Good luck.

G’day warty99,

thank you for your reply and advise. I know La Romana very well, as presently renting in ASPE.

However trying to relocate to a place that is not as cold as Aspe, of which is also moving up the mountains.

Thank you for your offer, but prefer less altitude rather than higher.
