A V16? That's ridiculous. It's not like you're going to cause much of hazard on a scooter.

I wonder if that's more about them being able to find you on remote roads?

I really don't think anybody is going to comply with that and it's going to be about how much the police enforce the laws.

I'm afraid that article is rather ill informed.  The new laws came into force late January, but there is no requirement for the V16 beacon for e Scooters.

DGT put out a notice on Facebook giving details and links which I share here.

But Registering is an absolute shambles.  Apparently Banco Sabadell is not on the list of banks for paying the fee and more importantly, the online form freezes on the last page after taking payment.  Check out all the comments on the DGT Facebook page. 🤦

I wondee how all this will affect the street hire e-scooters. I presume they are all very light and won't need some of the new regs. Members of my family always hire them when they need them for short trips as there is usually some left around the Urb.

The fee of €8.67 is only for the issuance or the registration sticker.  Once that has been processed you can then get insurance which will be from a 3rd party (not the DGT).

The link is in my original post.  Personally, I'm not proceeding with this at the moment because the DGT system crashes after it has taken your money.  Please look at the comments on the link.

It's an absolute shambles.

Ah, that's useful. Thanks.
