Hi,

Through someone, I have applied for Residency. I have been accepted, dated from 1st December 2020. I am still waiting to get an appointment for fingerprints, at the Police Station Alicante. Every time I ask the person dealing with getting my appointment for fingerprints, my next stage, they keep saying the office in Alicante is very busy, don't worry about it.

Can anyone tell me their experiences on this. I understand I am in Spain, but is it really a case of always checking for appointments daily? Which, I have to just assume is happening? Or, is it more organised and I will get an appointment sent out, when my my turn is due? I understand there may be others waiting longer? I am starting to feel fobbed off, as I have no control on the process and we enter February,

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Mine went through at the start of September but I didn't get an appointment until mid November. I would assume that the wait is even longer now but keep on to the companies tail over this as you will not be the only application that they are dealing with.

Thanks for the reply, I think if I was to get an appointment now for 2 or 3 months from now, that would not be an issue. It is just the waiting, to even get an appointment, that is causing the concern. I think I just assumed the whole process, would be more organised, with allocated appointments, as the process proceeds?

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks for this, I have sent an email, to my Abogada, to see if any progress has been made. Also asking if no objections to getting the appointment myself, as I am a bit worried, if I make the appointment, the assistance/Translator, when I get there, may not be available for the date I choose. I will act on the response I receive, most helpful thanks again.

Hi JJ,

There's been a 3 month backlog in the C.Valenciana region, but I alerted the forum yesterday as a batch of appointments had been released at Alicante office.  Several people were able to secure appointments, so in your position, I would ask your representative whether they have secured one for you.

Here's the EX-23 guide that Trotter mentioned:

https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/formentera-del-segura-spain-54/residency-in-formentera-del-segura-padron-residencia-passport-advice-23/guide-to-exchanging-residencia-for-a-tie-card-form-ex-23-117366/

Presumably, your representative has already prepared the necessary paperwork described in the guide?  If so, as Trotter has suggested, you can attend the appointment on your own, it's very straightforward.  I've just checked the appointments' system and, unfortunately, it's now showing no appointments available, so hopefully your lawyer has already obtained one for you.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello

, My translator took me to Alicante, it was part of their service and came in with me when my docs were presented. There was a query on my papers as my address was typed differently on my 15year old residencia & my latest padron,  my translator was able to discuss  this & reach a solution with the official so it was lucky he came in with me.

Cheers

Hi Elinspain,

This must have been some months ago, as Alicante foreigners' office (and presumably others too), stopped representatives from accompanying their clients to appointments towards the end of last year, because of Covid-19.  Of course, they can still prepare the application form and supporting documents on behalf of their clients, and transport them to the office, but they can't attend the appointment.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi.  Here is our story so far......

We applied for Residencia using a very good lawyer in Almoradi and he wasn't extortionate with his fees.

He told me exactly what he wanted which wasn't as easy for my wife as the Bank Account was solely in my name.  He used her savings and employment in the UK.

He submitted the paperwork on the 1st December 2020 and we both got accepted on the 7th December, then the fun started.....

From the 8th December until 29th January I tried 20 times a day to get an appointment in Alicante or Elche for the fingerprints.

Then last Thursday at 9am ish -  BINGO!! An appointment came up for Thursday 4th February - tomorrow.

So then we tried for my wife - BINGO on Monday she got her appointment in Elche for..... Thursday 4th February and 30 minutes after mine in Alicante.

So for 6 weeks nothing, then two buses come at the same time.  It took 6 weeks at 20 attempts per day from our side.  The Lawyer was also trying but they cannot sit either on a phone or in front of a computer screen trying to get appointments all day.

There must be 1000's of Brits in the Alicante catchment area all trying to get appointments including those who have a Green Card (they have more time than the new applicants).

So go easy on your representative and good luck.

Please let me know how you got on in Elche, my abogada told me I can only do in Alicante. I asked the question, when I said I have a car, so was flexible to travel. I am also from Catral, hope you are settling in ok:)
