I think that the government set the bottled gas prices so it will be similar prices everywhere.

Hello

Since the last increase in May, retailers can charge up to €19.95 for a 12.5kg bottle.

Cheers

That's not the full story.

The government sets a maximum price for gas bottles and distributors are not permitted by law to go above this price, prices are reviewed every two months but cannot rise by more than 5%.

Currently Repsol gas bottle prices are €18.63 (Inc IVA) for a 12.5kg bottle. Cepsa prices are not regulated by the government and are €19.95 (Inc IVA) for a 12.5kg bottle.

Independent outlets are permitted to charge up to €1 more but it's widely abused so if you want the best price stick with Repsol and buy replacements only from Repsol garages.

BTW Propano is cheaper and in terms of actual calorific content per bottle there is no advantage in paying the extra for Butano.

Thank you Darro, for the informative advise.

I can now be confident in the exchange of the 12.5kg Repsol cylinders.

Hi MORF

The main depot for Repsol is in Almoradi. Almacen de Butano is in Travesia Dolores No3. Google maps 'Almacén de Butano, Almoradi' and it will come up. I have found the depot to be the cheapest and are very friendly.

Hope this helps

Kindest Regards

Neil

Hi Darro

Where do you get propane bottles then and are they cheaper? Is there a difference? I have a repsol and a cepsa bottle, didn't realise there was a price difference as we only use it for occasional heating so forget what last price was

The Repsol website is telling me the current price of a 12.5 kg Butane is 19.55 euro.
