According to this report on Schengen News face masks will no longer be compulsory on public transport in Spain from February 7th. There is still a requirement to wear a face mask when visiting healthcare locations.

The good news here is that covid infections are low enough to allow this change despite it being the winter, a time of year that has previously seen a rise in infections.

Rgds,

Hello

Great news, as a regular bus user it will probably take me a couple of weeks to remember that when I grab phone, money, bus pass & keys  & go out to the bus stop--I wont need the obligatory face mask after almost 3years of continual use !

Cheers

After being on a coach trip today with loads coughing and spluttering it was probably a good thing masks were being worn. Mind you, loads with them under their noses which seems to negate any possible benefit.

As an update, the Spanish health authorities have scrapped the mandatory use of facemasks in pharmacies and health centres. It will go to the council of ministers next Tuesday and issued in a national bulletin on Wednesday.

Masks will still be worn in operating theatres, in ICUs and wards where particularly vulnerable people are stationed.

Mask wearing will now be an "advisory" precaution only.

Went in a coach trip in 31 March with person behind coughing and sneezing. No masks worn by anyone but 4 days later my husband developed Covid and was ill in bed for 2 weeks. However low the cases it’s still out there, particularly with tourist season started.
