I took this from a Facebook page this morning.

Interested to know if this opinion resonates with the factual experience of members of this forum.

----------------------

"We’ve just returned from a Murcia trip to view some potential ‘Holiday / looking to retirement age homes’.. this was our second trip the first being in February. In one Urbanización more than others there is this overwhelming support for ‘Brexit’ and wanting to leave the EU..!! Yet the residents appear to be leaving in droves back to the UK, some can’t sell their properties, those which have done have done at a very low price, People are moaning about health care worries, worried about their futures after living in Spain for so many years etc... the amount of properties up for sale since February was shocking.

But the best one I heard while ‘earwigging’ was a woman in her late 60’s saying she’s voted to leave because of immigration... yet she’s having to stop working and is considering returning to the UK because after all of her years in Spain the relevant authorities have clamped down on her because she didn’t have residential status...!! She’s spent the last 18 or so years working illegally and now she’s blaming the Spanish for being the way they are.."

No.

That's why I asked this forum for factual experience.

Its rather hard to be factual given the name of the urbanization was not given so i cannot comment if Brits are leaving in droves and selling houses at low prices, maybe you can contact this person on Facebook and clarify which urb it is.

I can however give my view on the Facebook "best one i heard", purely my own opinion off course. I voted for brexit and can say immigration was one of the reasons i voted out, however i have never had an issue with the EU citizens working in or coming into Britain, my "gripe" lay solely at the amount of African & others flooding the country under the guise of refugee status, off course the remainers would say i was against EU citizens but i am not, unless off course they happen to be Syrian or Somalian or similar that have gained EU residency far easier in the EU than i can gain residency in Spain or France.

Never said I was having a problem getting Spanish residency.

And I would agree, your not quite sure where I am coming from.

I did say that which is entirely different from saying I am having problems gaining residency, fact is we are undecided if we want residency "at this time", I shall not go into reasons.

The fact stands that Brits coming to Spain must abide by the laws of the country and jump through hoops to gain residency while it seems so called refugees need only jump in a dingy to become EU citizens.

This isn't the debate that I was interested in, but as you raise the issue, the treatment and settlement of international refugees (from civil war and/or ethnic conflict) is governed under a body of international laws and norms that pre-dated the recent African refugee crisis.

The EU coordinated its response.

Without the EU, all we "rich" countries would have still have resettled refugees under burden-sharing agreements. The EU just made it a little better coordinated.

It's not relevant whether you want it or not, it's a requirement as well you know.

You too are, at present, an EU citizen and subject to the same requirements as any other EU citizen in whichever country you choose to name.

I fail to see the point that you are trying to make.

This is not the debate I wanted either, I had hoped you might find out which Urb was supposedly being abandoned by Brits so we might give the facts you originally asked for, without stating which urbanization how can you expect factual information back, or was it your attempt at spreading fake news ?.

The fact you are not keen on my thoughts re refugees AKA economic migrants is of little consequence to myself however I am quite sure if these economic migrants are allowed to flood the EU in the coming years it will undoubtedly become an issue that will have huge consequences to all of us.
