Dear Reader,

I read a few days ago that rental costs could be used to reduce taxes in the Autonome Regio of Valencia.

My tax agent denied.

I pay now a few years tax here.

Does anybody know  about this matter?

Ronald

Rental costs are tax deductible for your one and only permanent residence. It does not affect in any way holiday homes.

I've rented for 8 years and my accountant says that rental costs are not tax deductible.

It it dependable on your income?

Has he been wrong all these years?

Hello Killroy,

Very interesting news about the deductibility of rent. Could you please give some more information about this subject. Maybe the source of it? Or the name and website, emailadress of your accountant. Because in THAT case I will become his customer and I would quit my accountant!

Hope to hear from you!

Ronald

Attached is the bit from my better half's declaration for 2019 that shows both the state and community deduction.

(You don't know what I had to go through to get this info so be nice...)

This is what you need to check to see if it still valid:

Renters who pay tax get a deduction on their declaration for a rent contract of at least one year.

https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/vivienda-otros-inmuebles/deduccion-arrendatario-alquiler-vivienda-habitual/deduccion-arrendatario-alquiler-vivienda-habitual.html

If your rent contract is dated before 1 January 2015 you get a state discount

https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/ayuda/manuales-videos-folletos/manuales-practicos/irpf-2021/capitulo-17-deducciones-autonomicas-cuota/comunitat-valenciana/arrendamiento-vivienda-habitual.html

If your rent contract is dated after 23 April 1998 you get the Valencian discount

Please post whatever you find out so we all know...
