I know the area and and can say that w/o own means of transport your will be lost. Consider at least a micro or mini car which doesn't need a license.

I spend time at my house in Playa Flamenca without a car. I can walk to beach, Zenia Boulevard, bank, supermarkets etc and there is a bus going to Torrevieja and one going south down the coast too.  The closer you are to the N332 the better for the bus route and amenities. Taxis are reasonably priced if you need one.

I would recommend renting in low season for a couple of months in the area to see how you feel about it.

Hi

If you have no transport, then Punta Prima might be your best bet. In PP, there is a very good local bus service into Torrevieja. This is a totally different service to that mentioned by Christine (those buses are infrequent) but note it does not go south to the other places you mention. There is also another infrequent bus service which runs around the back roads to the hospital and Boulevard, Playa Flamenca, and ultimately Cabo Roig.

There is one supermarket in PP, plus a number of others within walking distance (with a trolley). Which reminds me, there is also a bus to the Boulevard.

PP, Playa Flamenca and La Zenia all stay busy throughout the year, but I would say that Cabo Roig can be very quiet at times.

btw, almost everybody speaks English, including the Germans,Dutch, Scandinavians,Easter Europeans etc so you shouldn't have any problems getting to know people.

Cheers

Steve

The advantages of Punta Prima include some lovely views and the fact that you can get away with speaking English.  There are bars restaurants and supermarkets.

You mentioned mobility issues in an earlier post.  What the other posters here don’t mention  is that Punta Prima, along with Vilamartin, is hilly, it sits either side of the N332, which is crossed by a footbridge.

If you don’t intend to have a car and wouldn’t mind living among the Spanish then Torrevieja just back from the seafront would suit you. The centre has an abundance of restaurants and a big supermarket. Or, if you want more English or Irish nearby then The Park of Nations at the top of Torrevieja, 10 minutes walk from the Port would be good. There are Scandinavian areas too. Best visit and do thorough investigations.
