Morning everyone.

My name's Andy, I'm 58 and for the past 2 years I've been the proud owner of a lovely 3 bed house in Torrevieja that I inherited after my father passed though I've been coming to the area for about 25 years. My family and I mostly use the house currently for holiday purposes but I have plans for the not too distant future (shh).

I like to get over there as often as work commitments allow, in fact as I sit here now looking out at a dreary wet cold Derbyshire morning, I'm looking forward to 18 days time when I can come over and paint yet another wall...

I've signed up with this forum to test the waters as it were (for now). I was signed up with two others, one of which was unbelievably cliquey and the other suddenly ceased to exist. Here's hoping that third time's a charm and this one will turn out to be a good source of info and good natured chat.

Cheers

Andy

Welcome along Andy,

There are worse places to be than in Derbyshire, where about are you? I spent most of my working life around Derbs & sometimes miss it.

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum!

This site is a mine of information and we're lucky to have the "Legendary" Jim Taylor on it - it's rare for him to say, "I don't know" about anything 😀  In my opinion, it's the best forum available on the Costa Blanca and new blood is always welcome 😋

If it makes you feel a little better about wet (but beautiful) Derbyshire, take a look at Jim's recent post about AEMET's weather warning for the coming Sunday to Wednesday 😫😄

Kind regards,

Kim

The more the merrier Andy, welcome to the forum.
As Kim says, if it happens in Spain, Jim Taylor has come up with a "Jim's Guide" for it. The starting point can be found almost at the bottom of the rhs of the page, especially if you might possibly be considering coming over permanently.
There are a number of other regulars who are always willing to help out and the only time I could ever describe the forum as cliquey is if someone gets nasty and we jump in in defence. The report button doesn't seem to be used very often but Jan or Alex react quickly when notified.
There will be banter (Villas, LeckyLes and UKHandyman4Hire spring to mind) and some replies can elicit a sharp intake of breath but nevertheless will answer the questions posed.
Jim has also helpfully provided a guide on how to search this forum for information previously given.

Hi Andy.
Welcome to the forum. I find it a great source of information and so useful when I first cane over here looking to purchase. The advice was invaluable and everyone was so helpful. I agree with everything said - friendly (most of the time), helpful, funny (thanks to Villas and the gang) and so well managed by Jan and Alex. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! Have a great break when you come over - we have been enjoying the sun over the past ten days in Lomas de Campoamor away from the damp, drab, grey winter back home - though I have to say, if you have to be there, Derbyshire has to be one of the best places to endure winter.

Best wishes, Jackie and Bex

Good morning from a bright, sunny though chilly East Kilbride. As many have said this is a great site with lots of helpful information.

My move to Spain took me to Quesada and I love it....looking forward to getting home early February and getting some golf played
