Yes the face mask rules are firmly in place here in Benidorm!!
Exemption in the UK does not mean you are exempt here in Spain. It may help if you get a doctors letter translated into Spanish and stamped by a notary but the Spanish police on the day might not accept it and fine you up to €100.
Masks have to be worn at all times except when eating, drinking, sunbathing/swimming.
It's for your own safety and for others safety (including mine)

Hi, thank you for the help much appreciated as i suffer from a severe lung condition i find by wearing a mask it makes my breathing worse obviously i will abide by the rules as i dont want to be breaking the rules...so many thanks for the replies
I am guessing that you will be travelling without insurance and relying on the EHIC which will cover you for emergencies and ongoing treatment but if you do fall ill, and with COPD it seems you are not only more susceptible to the virus but also more likely to suffer more serious consequences, you will be stuck in Spain for the duration. Any extra expense will be down to you as you may be discharged from hospital before you are given a fit to fly note from a doctor.
All in all, a lot to risk plus you are likely to spend your time here being glared at, talked about and challenged on a regular basis.

Hi cheryl,, because of my health and the risks that can happen due to covid i never go on any holiday without travel insurance,,,i have been shielding since march as i know am high risk if i contract covid.... so health insurance is a must for me x

If you were insured with the company I use, you would be covered for emergency medical cover, including C19 and repatriation.
What I would be surprised about would be, that, given that your COPD is severe enough to warrant not wearing a mask in the U.K., that your GP would even consider giving you a letter coving you to fly to/be in, Spain.
Given you’re only coming for 7days and that you’ll have to quarantine for 14 on your return, I’d give that some serious thought
Stay safe 🤪🥂

I know i would have to self isolate for 14 days on my return..sounds daft to want to do that, but as i have been indoors since march i really need a little break obviously my health comes first but being indoors doesn't do your mental health much good either....x

I totally understand. Consider also that, very unfortunately, Spain figures are not so good at the moment. If we take that as a yard stick, things are going to get worse before they get better, regardless of where in the world we are
I wish you well. Take care and look after yourself 🤪🥂
"obviously my health comes first"
Based on what you've said what you propose that's a patently untrue statement.
There are plenty of was to have a break without the totally unnecessary risk of getting on a plane and flying to a country where COVID is more prevalent than UK - and likely to get worse.
