Hello Shelagh how are you today.
You can do either. Spain banks do issue credit cards but they are cautious with expats. Don’t cancel your UK card until your Spanish card is in your hand and working, in fact why bother cancelling your UK card at all?
Have a good day.
Ok thank you for your help
Thank you for your help
MNBA is not a good card to use abroad be a use of the charges.
If you relly want or need to use a UK card then get one which has no fees, Nationwide for instance.
Don't forget that if offered the choice between paying in pounds or Euros ALWAYS choose Euros.

I still use my UK Santander credit card in Spain. I always select to pay in euros. The exchange rate is good. My Spanish bank, Bankia, tried very hard to get me to take their credit card as it is ‘FREE’. Upon my persistent questioning the cashier finally admitted that it would only be free in the first year and a charge would be levied after that. I didn’t stop to ask how much as I was annoyed by their selling methods.
You obviously have to keep an address in U.K., I use my daughter’s.

Definitely keep a UK credit card. If you surrender it, as a resident outside the UK you won't be able to get another one.
Some things can't be bought in Spain, or cost a lot more here, so being able to use a UK card means you're not suffering from the exchange rate that card providers use. In addition, it's useful for when you visit the UK. I mainly use it when my wife's going to Scotland, and I order stuff for her to bring back.

Hello Josephine how are you today
Sadly deceitful practice has become standard in most countries and is considered normal. It’s called progress.
Have a good evening

Hi
We have kept UK credit cards though bank knows we are now resident here, so no deceit!
As said Nationwide and Halifax are best ones to use here.
