Hi to everyone

We have just bought our house in benimar and are going over Good Friday for the first time to stay in it. We are wondering is everything open for us to get supplies and to go out for a meal and drinks or is everything closed up

Thank you all in advanced

Gerry mcc

Hi Gerry,

Friday 7 April (Good Friday) is a national holiday (Red Day), so the shops won't be open, but no problem for eating out.  The bars and restaurants may well be busier than usual, so perhaps consider booking somewhere for that evening before you leave the UK.

Monday 10 April (Easter Monday) is a Valencian Community Bank holiday, so there will be supermarkets open - and, of course, Saturday 8th will be a normal trading day.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Gerry

Exciting times visiting your new home for your first stay!

The bars and restaurants will be open. I’m not familiar with Benimar,  so cannot comment if any of the local supermarkets will be open for a few hours, hopefully a forum member from there will reply to your post.

Here’s a link to the ‘red days’ ( a bit like bank holidays in the U.K.) for Benijofar

I’ve just seen Kim’s reply.

Enjoy your stay.

Regards

Anne

Hi Gerry

Presume you’ll be putting your suitcases in the hold. If you are, pack in a few essentials.  Using freezer/ zippy bags, put in tea bags, coffee granules. If coming from Ireland, you may bring bacon, sausages, cheese etc.,  pack in good suncreams too.Way back when we bought, I used a golf carry bag and filled it with pillows, bedding, bath sheets.tea towels and some j cloths for wiping the kitchen.  You’ll be so full of excitement   Bring a sweater Incase there are cool evenings. If you have an anorak you don’t need any more, wear it and leave it at your house. If you can connect to an internet provider before arriving, bring your firestick and connect to your tv for comfort viewing. Avatel costs €24.95 per month. Option for on /off available BUT always from start of month. Hopeless if arriving mid month. You’ll end up paying for 2 months.  Good luck.

Good advice re: the wi-fi etc. But if they are coming to Spain (one of the best "home" of the best coffees, teas & infusions, pork products, cheeses etc) we also have bedding, economic clothing & cleaning products. Bring a golf-bag as suggested on April 1st. V

A lot of the Spanish visit their holiday homes in the area for Easter, so some of the supermarkets are open. Lidl and Aldi are open on the Sunday and the others with the exception of Mercadona are open Sunday morning. Saturday is a normal business day. The likes of Good Friday and what we call Easter Monday, you will find some stores open  Aldi may open on the Friday and close on the Monday, but Lidl could be the other way around. I’ve not seen any of the stores publish their opening hours, except for The Food Co  - see screenshot

For the holiday weekend Zenia Boulevard is open everyday

Bars and restaurants open as normal - it’s thirsty work carrying those floats in the parades!

Why on earth would you bring cheese & coffee to Spain?
