In my humble opinion, this is another White Elephant which can be added to the long list which has been introduced by Bungling Boris.

For example, Nightingale Hospitals - how many built at what cost and only a handful of beds used. Everyone make some ventilators, we will pay whatever for them - none called for!

So, lets track and trace... their number displays on your mobile as a withheld number, they also do not allow incoming calls. So, assuming I got a call, my phone would automatically bin the call. They don't leave a voicemail as they have no number for you to call back on.

So... whats the point?!

The contract tracing process is to help stop the spread of covid19 and prevent infections spreading so as to minimise the risk of further significant outbreaks. As we come out of lockdown this is key to preventing a second phase developing, I don't understand why anyone would not want to do it.

It is a NHS driven initative,.

People mentioning big brother, well if you think you cannot be traced already with your mobile then you have not been paying attention to the numerous documentaries on TV where they trace people to within a few hundred yards. Failing that just ask Google, they always know where you are!

How have South Korea, Germany, Singapore, etc, etc, been so successfully at reducing the spread of covid19, by using track and trace.

If I had the virus I would want people I could have infected to know, if someone I had been in contact with has developed the infection I would want to know. From what I can tell this is the best way to do it at the moment.

Aitch.

It is imperative that we do all we can to rid ourselves of Covid 19.

The only reason you would be asked to self isolate is if you have been in contact with Covid and could pass it on to others.

Failing to isolate could actually kill someone.

Anyone failing to do it is just selfish and ignorant of the facts.

Which facts would these be?

That this is not an NHS app but one developed external through intended government contracts with the likes of Serco & G4S?

That the data will be collected centrally and retained for 25yrs?

That the analytics company involved is the same one that illegally acquired thousands of personal details from Facebook accounts without the holders knowledge?

That until an electronic application is deployed there is no verification that a person is infected or that those they claim to have contact with are true?

That anyone required to self isolate will have no entitlement to pay, including sick pay?

Shall I go on? Until there is a properly regulated system to accurately & anonymously capture and verify data, and ensure those asked to isolate are not penalised for doing the right thing, this is just another white elephant.

At the moment they are not using the app, there is a good outline of the process they are using in the Daily Telegraph,

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/0/nhs-test-trace-system-coronavirus-uk/

I don't know about the claims you make in your post about the vendors developing the app,the length of data retention, etc, etc, where did you read that?

There are several government support programs for people who cannot work which should include anyone with covid19, I don't see why someone who is working and gets sick would not be entitled to sick pay. What's the  alternative,  ignore and potentially spread the virus regardless?

No you don't need to go on because the fact is if you don't self isolate you may infect numerous other people,. keep us in this nightmare longer and possibly kill people.

If that's not selfish I don't know what is

Are the 40,000+ dead a white elephant? I think not!
