Hi we're looking to relocate and have seen a few places in Gandia and also Denia, leaning towards Gandia but wanted to know how the place was set up for children ie sports facilities and after school activities in the area. Is it ideal for young families and how might it compare to Denia ?

I assume that you know all about the visas required to be able to move to Spain and gain residency?

Hello

I really think you should start at the beginning and see if your family of 5 would qualify both  financially, &  for health requirements and for whatever Visas you would need regarding  future employment etc. This can only be done at a Spanish Embassy in the UK. Until you actually become resident, then you can only visit for up to 90days in a rolling 180days ( this is if if you have UK passports) If you found a home before you had achieved residencia, you could only use it as a holiday home

There are so many hurdles to get over  before   thoughts of areas to live,  schools , after school activities are concerned.  Take it one step  at a time and start the process with enquiries at the nearest embassy to where you live .

Cheers

I was more Interested in the digital nomad visa scheme that's coming into play. It's going to open lots of avenues for relocation and make it a while lot easier to settle in.  Still I agree it would be a grand idea to take a visit to the Spanish embassy to gather more vital Information.

Does anyone know if the talked about digital nomad visas will be on an autonomo basis and the holders have to pay their autonomo fees like any other self employed in Spain.Obviously a lot of water to go under the bridge before a definitive visa is offered.

The digital nomad visa is not talked about anymore, it is a fact. It is to allow people to work for a company online or for themselves but not on the autonomo basis. You need health insurance, a guaranteed income to cover the same as the NLV asks for and proof you have been working for a company in the same field for a certain time.

To go autonomo you need the entrenepenuer visa and show your business plan. Quite convoluted but they are different schemes. For example, becoming autonomo will mean you are paying social security and getting healthcare. The digital nomad means you will not be paying social security but will be paying a reduced rate of tax for the first 4 years so you need private healthcare insurance to cover you.

Thank you for making sense.

Both beautiful place Gandía is better for beauty but overall I think Denia is best suited to families that like to socialise, its got a big expat community, lots of easy access public transport, private English schools, ferry to Ibiza is there aswel.

Hello Marcliff

That's a good explanation of the D.N Visa.  I was reading some details about this  recently as I really knew nothing about it & was unaware of the  amount of finance required to achieve this. ..... €25000 for the first applicant  and  €9441 for each additional family member so, for the poster who was hoping to apply for his family of 5 , a total of €54,764. Here's the link where I got my basic info from, for anyone who is interested.
