Hello. I bought a ceiling fan at Leroy Merlin last summer. It's always worked, but today (tho to be honest, I haven't used it much - only on super hot evenings). When I tried to turn it on with the remote, I hear 4 beeps, but the fan doesn't start. It's still under the warrenty, but how does THAT work? Am I meant to take the fan down and return it for a new one - and then, pay for another installation? Leroy Merlin did not do the installation - that was done by an albanil. Not sure what to do here... Any advice? If I need to get someone to come repair the fan, any recommendations for someone to do that?

Try taking the batteries out of the remote and wait a minute then reinstall and try again

In 2019 a ceiling fan we had bought from Leroy Merlin stopped working on our next visit to our holiday home, just a couple of months after installation.  Leroy Merlin seemed unsurprised and exchanged the fan for a different model as they no longer sold that one.   We needed the original receipt and had to pay the difference in cost of the models. We also had to return the original fan.

We had used our own installer and had to bear the cost of taking down the original fan and installing the replacement ourselves.   Our installer said the problem was in the control box in the fan and could not be fixed.

Fingers crossed our 4 ceiling fans will still be working when we eventually revisit.

As well as trying to turn it on with the remote, have you ensured that it is turned on at the main light switch (I’m assuming that it’s a combined light/fan) - my wife had the same problem a while ago, couldn’t get it to come on via the remote - I switched the light switch on at the wall and miraculously the fan then started running !!

Hi

The other Stevec beat me to it! Yeah, check that the wall switch is on, and if there are 2 wall switches, try them both - that regularly catches me out!

Cheers

I had the same problem about a year ago. The fault was due to improperly switching spinning direction while propeller was still moving. You will have to replace a litle black box fitted to almost touching the ceiling.

Yeah! That did the trick! Turning the switch on the wall and then back on again seem to jump start the fan :-) thank you everyone for your help.

I think it would be wise to have the security of the wiring connections checked at the switch and at the ceiling fan .  Loose connections could be the problem.

Reading on from Deborah's reply stating that it is now working, Im guessing that the non-start was probably because it hadn't been switched on at the wall, as I mentioned in an earlier post my wife has had the same "fault" on our ceiling fan......until I switched it on at the wall switch! She assumed that the remote control did everything, and that the wall switch wasn't relevant!
