Hi Everyone

I have posted before about our pathetic inability to find our way around, and as we will be visiting again shortly  I would really, really, like to find the picnic area on the attached photos which I took from the TV screen whilst watching a Place In The Sun.  It was shown as the lake near La Mata.and from similar pics I have seen previously it seems there is a picnic area and a pathway for walking/cycling around the lake.

We have found the lake a couple of times, but never an access point.  If anyone recognises this area and can give me easy to follow instructions from Algorfa I will be indebted.

Thank you in advance!

It will probably be La Pinata:

https://www.google.es/maps/place/La+Pinada/@38.0253471,-0.6769196,15.25z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0xd63a60a0e3cd679:0xc0320ed9c614d704!2sLa+Pinada,+Alicante!3b1!8m2!3d38.0574741!4d-0.7658327!3m4!1s0xd63abd2c5cc716b:0x59ee6853154e7dd1!8m2!3d38.0197311!4d-0.6693533?hl=en

Go down the N332. When you get to the first La Mata roundabout, turn right signposted Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja. Park at the visitor centre, have a look inside it, then follow the path to the picnic centre.

If you've got the time and the inclination, you can walk all the way round the lake.

Thank you Jim, if we still get lost with those instructions there really will be no more hope.

Looking forward to going there at last!

Hi Julie. I think you should do a recce whilst the weather is cool, before mossie season starts. Plus there will hopefully be migrant birds over-wintering on the lake.

Yes we are over in a few weeks just for three nights, mainly to decorate so may only have time to actually find the place. I think maybe you can Go horse riding round the lakes too so will hopefully get to do that later in the year but before mossie season as you say.

thanks again

Julie

Hi,

I live in La Siesta on the edge of La Mata nature park where the picnic area is (as Jim said), and go running through lots of different areas of it 3 times a week, it's beautiful. There are lots of different  birds on the lake at the moment and saw  flamingos the other week. Also squirrels, bunnies and partridges about. I also saw a fox early one morning last year.

You can go horse riding through there as I've passed a few before.

Hope you find it and enjoy walking around and exploring .

Hi I am quite hopeful of finding my way there now, am sure it will be worth the wait. Hard to say why it’s proven so difficult to find, for some reason we get lost everywhere we go!

I will post an update when we do finally get there.

Thanks julie
