Please help. We are planning to move in the next couple of months to crevillente area and am distressed to read that we cannot bring our lovely little Staffordshire bull terrier as he is deemed a dangerous dog. Please tell me this isn't true as this will mean our plans will be dashed!!!

Have a read of this. It´s not as "bad" as you think. Obviously restrictions.

Hope helps.

I agree with Ray, no what how lovely and friendly your dog may be the law is the law and it is much tighter on the Continent than in the U.K. or Ireland.

Hi Kaz if there’s one tiny bit of advice I can give choose your muzzle carefully so that your dog can pant and breath easily. Ideally try a few on in the pet shop before you buy or ask your vet.The Baskerville type muzzle, whilst it isn’t very pretty gives more air to your dog, the nylon type that slip over the dogs nose restricts their air intake, especially during the hot summer months. I believe there might still be restrictions on the length of lead that you can walk your dog on. I used to bring my Bull Terrier over with me and in those 12 years, I followed the rules and I never encountered any problems. Enjoy Spain!

We are going by ferry to Bilboa or Santander then van to destination. We will keep him muzzled in populated areas.

You will need insurance for the dog and to take a stupid medical to get the licence I went through all this when I arrived in lanzarote with my staffy the guardia civil were waiting for me as soon as my dog was taken off the aeroplane they kept telling me owning 1 of them dogs is like owning a firearm I got all the relevant paperwork for him that I had to carry with me when walking my dog and obviously he had to be muzzled everytime we left the house but it was all worth it wish he was still with us
