Hi there

I am thinking of buying a holiday home in Crevillente and I am looking at a property in Carrer Sant Joaquim. Does anyone know what the area is like please? I want to live in the middle of town but want to know if this area is safe? I have heard that some areas of Crevillente can be a bit rough and so I was looking for advice please?

Also, is there public transport from Crevillente to Alicante airport or buses in general to Alicante beaches?

Thank you very much - I am excited at the prospect of spending time in Crevillente!

Public transport here is not the best as most people have cars so there is not the demand to make routes viable.
Getting to the beach will be a mission. Your specific area is about an hour's walk to the train station.
What has drawn you to Crevillent in the first place and how much do you know about the area in general? What kind of thing do you like doing when on holiday?

X2 Cheryl.
Nowt particularly wrong with Crevillente but it's shall we say an 'unusual' choice of location for a Brit for a holiday home meaning that 1st. hand feedback is likely to be a bit thin on the ground.

Hi there

I have an English Expat friend who has lived here for 30 years and he loves it. I want to be part of a community - living more simply and uncomplicated than here in England. I would like to get away from TV, and commercialism, enjoy the sunshine, tapas, the festivals and go for lots of walks and bike rides. I would like to buy food fresh every day - that sort of thing.

Hi Darro

Thank you for your reply.  Why is it an unusual choice? I do have a friend who has lived here for 30 years but was also looking for other opinions than just his one. He loves it.

I live with my family near Crevillente. My wife and daughter like to go into town to shop and go out. It has a high percentage of Moroccans in the city. We have never had any problems with harassment or anything like that and feel very safe there.

The area is good for walking and cycling.

There is a bus service to Alicante every 1-2 hours. I can't say off the top of my head whether it stops at the airport.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

If you like Morocco you will be happy in Crevillente.

Forget the beach unless you buy a car.

Good luck.

Hi there,

We are not English but Dutch and live in the Campo just outside Crevillent for more than 6 months now. To be short, we love it! Friendly people, nice views and nature and all you need (shops) are there. Yes, a car will be handy if you want to go straight to the beach in short notice. But you can always grab a taxi. For example: taxi to the airport is about €40. We live mainly between Spanish people but do have Swiss, English and German people in the neighbourhood. Living next to Spanish people is a motivation to learn (and talk) Spanish (which is an fantastic language in our opinion).

Good luck with making your choice!

I have lived in Crevillente for two years and love it. I am situated up in the Sierra Crevillente, a 7 minute drive into town. The town has everything you need, plus there are a few big stores out on the road to Elche, and L'aljub shopping centre too.

The people are friendly and helpful, although many do not speak English, but do try and help me improve my Spanish. There are some great cafe's and bars.

Our family has a holiday home in an urbanisation near the coast, which is just that, a holiday home. I go there now and again, but cannot wait to get back here for the peace and quiet.

The downside of the town is that I can never find out about events and fiestas in advance, as they never seem to be advertised. That, or I am not looking in the right place!
