The nearest chippy I'm aware of is in Quesada. There used to be one in Catral, but don't know if it's still there, and I've heard of one in La Marina.
Mercadona have good fish counters, but a lot of what they offer is defrosted frozen fish. You might as well buy frozen from them. It's not bad, but obviously it isn't as good as fresh. You'll find that hake is much more common, and haddock is non-existent. They don't always have it, but we've just last Friday bought some frozen Alaskan pollack from Mercadona, and this is similar to cod.
Cod - bacalao
Hake - merluza
Haddock - eglefino
Pollack - abadejo
