Hi All

We are looking to install Wi-fi in our property and wondered what sort of speeds you can get in Daya Neuva the monthly cost for unlimited broadband an how we go about it

New to Spain and looking for something equivalent to our BT package in UK. Also looking for English channels and would prefer not to have a satellite therefore looking at IPTV just wondering if anyone had any recommendations (have Sky and Netflix in UK)

Not a tech expert so any advice gratefully received.

Many Thanks

Mark

Hi Gibbo 26

I’m no tech expert either. I also have a BT package in the U.K. but IPTV in Spain.

My experience is, ensure that you have enough “juice” (see, no tech) to run what you need to TV, IPads etc, at the same time. We don’t have fibre in my area at the moment. My providers charges are on an ascending scale, depending on how many GB you need. I found, until I increased my package, that I sometimes had to turn of the iPads etc in order for the TV not to freeze, particularly during busy times. When “strictly” was on , it used to drive me nuts 😉

There are some very knowledgeable guys (M/F) on the forum so I’m sure someone will respond. In fact, I’m counting on it!

Welcome to the forum 🤪🥂

I have IPTV with AAFreeEnglishTV who advertise on here down the right hand side.
We live way out in the countryside and have 20 mb juice (does that sound right, it's all a foreign language with me?) after being on 10 for nearly 3 years and we did have a fair bit of freezing as Angebadge mentioned. We still do, so are quite disappointed that the upgrade doesn't seem to have made much difference at all but at €120 a year for all the channels I'm happy with it. I'm sure there are other providers who can offer it cheaper and possibly there are ways to get lots of UK channels free but we like our football and we can even get UK matches not shown on UK tv so we put up with the Strictly curse.

Considering we aren't even on mains water or sewage, and are miles from masts, I think the fact we get access to so many channels is not much short of a miracle but then perhaps I'm easily pleased.

Morning Cheryl

“Juice” was the best I could come up with! 😂 I found your post interesting, particularly the cost. I’m currently paying around €30 per month for nowhere near that input

I then pay about €18 a month for their basic TV package (similar to freeview)

I’ve got various “sticks” but some are cumbersome to use and can be rather unreliable. That unreliability is still there when I’ve tried them in the U.K. so it’s definitely not down to lack of “juice”

What I would really love is a Sky type set up; so easy to use and reliable. I did get a dialogue going some months ago with a poster who I assumed knew his stuff, given his username. However, I think he must have found my questions tedious because after a while, he just didn’t reply😉

As I said, I hope some of the techie guys will come through and post. I’d be very interested in other options🤪🥂

Good morning to you too. I only get the IPTV for €120, our internet is from Telfy in Catral and also includes our mobile now but the 10 mb contract on it's own cost about €30 a month and the upgrade plus mobile was an overall cost saving for us.
"Juice" means more to me than technical terms anyway and it's not just the Strictly curse, we also find catch up is out of sync a lot or we can't get it at all sometimes and we also have to switch between Basic, HD and FHD if we lose the picture but in all honesty, for us, it's no real biggy.

Got it, sorry I’d misunderstood the post. I’m still hoping for the techies to join in and offer some advice. I’m sure there must be more reliable, simple ways? 🤪🥂

Hi Mark

Earlier this year I was looking into fibre providers as most of Daya Nueva has fibre availability. Two of the main providers for DN are Telfy & Vega Fibra who seem to compete against each other. Both have websites, if a bit quirky.
Telfy are quite popular and have an office in Almoradí. In the end I chose Vega Fibra as I quite liked their package and claimed internet speeds. I had no problems with the installation & the wi fi seems stable and quick. Vega Fibra also offer tv & was free, at least when I took out the contract. They use Perseo TV, which is an OTT/ IPTV platform. They charge a one off fee for a box of around €55. However, no need for the box if your TV is an up to date smart one, as mine is. I can even use Perseo TV on my mobile, via their app. The tv provides 60+ English channels, like freesat. Also available are a similar number of Spanish channels. Maybe more with other languages?

Vega Fibra charge just under €25 pm with the first 3 months free. Their office covering Daya Nueva is over in Benijofar & they all seem friendly to assist. One of them, Luke, is English and is very helpful.

It may be useful to ask neighbours for their experience of fibre providers to get a wider perspective.

I hope this is of assistance. I’m a non resident & currently in the UK but waiting to head back to DN when safe and allowable.

Best wishes, Pete
