Hi Hannah,

Daya Nueva isn't on the coast.  The nearest beach (about 10 minutes drive) is at Guardamar del Segura, but/and that's golden sand.

Kind regards,

Kim

Black sand only appears in volcanic areas, like the Canaries.

Thanks for the response but I went to one near Santa Pola in the last year. Man made or not, it was black sand.

Hello Hannah, if you went at Easter or mid September after the storms it could well have been covered in all kinds of muck but as Jim and Kim have said, black sand is found in volcanic areas.

Hi Hannah,

Now that you've mentioned it was at Santa Pola, I think you may be talking about the dog beach at the eastern end of Santa Pola, called Playa de Ermita, which has 'dark' sand.

Kind regards

Kim

I always thought that the black sand in Daya Nueva was called tarmac.....
