That’s the trouble, it’s only used for holidays, since my husband and I, because of I’ll health, can’t go anymore.  We used to spend months at a time there and have some lovely memories and made some lovely friends.

Never mind make the most of the lovely weather, Bob, lovely speaking to you . Bye...

...

No probs.

I do think studying the bills will give you an idea as to what to do next though. All the best and maybe on your sons return there will be new info.

Regards,

Bob

At those prices, it HAS to be unit consumption. If Iberdrola have run checks and say there is no fault with the meter and the supply has not been hijacked, then either something like aircon has been left switched on or an appliance is draining the supply. The most likely answer is that someone is...

... gaining entry and using the power.

Be careful with Iberdrola.  They are likely to say all's well to save the hassle of doing any checks in the hope you will just go away and leave them alone. Remember this is Spain.

Thanks but we don’t have air conditioning, nothing at all has been left on and our very good friends check regularly that no one has broken in, so Iberdrola are stitching our sons up, they know they live in England and it’s so hard to get through to them.  They are even thinking of selling the apartment as it’s costing a fortune with nobody there!!

Hi

Iberdrola, when not there can be €22, obviously standing charge, many years ago I complained of the price it used be €56 , and then sent me a form to complete and they reduced and put me on a new tariff.,

Hello,

What's your Potencia, because if it's higher than 3.5, your charges will be continually higher, you will get charged higher for everything. Our Potencia was 5.5. and bills were 180e/200e euros, we changed to 3.5. now we only pay 80e. Iberdrola charge even if your not using it, they charge for having it higher there. Go to Iberdrola and change it, there's a help desk as well in entrance to Leroy Merlin and in the Xenia Boulevard. Good Luck. Jean

Hi Jean,

Whats a Potencia please.  Our son came home today and won’t be going out there until end June, but I can pass this on to him , do you think he’ll be able to change it from England?

The higher the KW coming into the property the higher the standing charges.

For a property that is only used for holidays 3.5KW should be more than ok, but if the property is lived in then you would require a higher KW coming into the property particularly during the winter, was the property used for permanent living before your son purchased the property? Not saying this will entirely explain why the high bills or should I say williams?

The KW is shown on the bill, have a look and see what the amount is.

Hello,

It's hard to describe exactly, but it seems to be the amount of units they are supplying to your address. It will be on the top of your bill. Don't worry Iberdrola will know exactly what a Potencia is, just tell them you want to change it. Yes I think there is a help line in English, sorry don't have the number but there is one, look online. Have your contract number ready. Good Luck. Jean

Our potencia is 3.5 and our next door neighbour has 5.5, the difference in standing charges are minimal. Just remember it's free to get a lower potencia, but if you ever need to increase it again you will have to pay. There is no way you will ever save €120/month by lowering your potencia.
