Hello Gerina, we live in Lliber which as you may know is around 20 minutes drive from Denia. We are older than you, 70, but not quite decrepit! We have also found it difficult to meet people. We are English, retired. We would be willing to meet you both, say in a cafe/bar of your choice in Denia? For a late morning coffee? But not for the next 3 weeks or so as we are going back to Uk shortly for a trip, my birthday treat!

Hello Stephanie, I noticed your comment about finding it difficult to make friends. Are you aware of the expatriate organisation U3A? I belong to the one in Oliva but I think there's one in Denia. If not, the Oliva one is very welcoming! There are many activities and regular events on offer where you can meet people, I recommend you check it out. There's a website, u3aoliva.wildapricot.org.

Hello Jack and thank you for your kind thought. Unfortunately we find Oliva just a little too far to go to comfortably from here for social stuff, it’s not really that convenient.

Thanks for reading my long post

I always want everyone to be aware of the Ladies of Spain group on Facebook.  I know they are particularly active in the Denia area.  Go and join, and then post on there.  Ali x  (Obviously this is just for ladies - but it will be a start to find new friends, and then your partner can be involved too.)

U3A in Dénia, Javea, Moraira Teulada and Jalon Valley.  You can join each one as they have events near each other.  Check out the activities online.  A lot of retired people so not sure if you are working or not.  Also conversation groups, Spanish-English, amateur dramatics helpers, charity shop volunteers etc.  Go along to some of the events as a guest and you will get lots of ideas from people there.  So much going on....you will make friends easily!  We are moving over there from MAllorca and already met lots of people.  So friendly!

Go online and type in U3A to find out about it.  It means University of the Third Age.  Type in U3A Denia....and U3A Javea...U3A Jalon Valley etc.  They each have their own website.  Shows you monthly meetings, how to join, groups for activities etc.  Mainly for retired/semi retired people.  Fancy bowling at Inn on the Green?  They have a Christmas function coming up.  Lots of charity organisations..MABS cancer, Apasa animals etc. Javea amateur dramatics has a studio theatre at Jesus Pobre and needs help backstage with props and costumes etc. Etc.  Good luck settling in.
