I've just received a letter from Iberdrola, or as I call them, Iber-robbers, the text of which is as follows, with Google translation:

At Iberdrola, we thank you for the trust placed in us during all this time. Therefore, during the next 12 months we want to reward you with a 5% discount on the term of power on your bill. This discount will be additional to any promotion you enjoy.
To be able to offer this discount it is necessary to activate the time discrimination. In any case, it will keep a single price for all hours of the day.
Of course, this change will not cost you anything.
If you are not interested in applying this discount, you can tell us before 03/12/2018, date from which this new conditions will apply, on 900 225 235 or at any of our Service Points.

Anyone else get this letter? Of course, who wouldn't want a discount, but what do they mean by 'activate the time discrimination'? If anyone can shed any light on this, please do.

Looks to.me like they are trying to.get you off the day /  night tariff with an incentive.

If so I wouldn't go for it. Ours is only a HH but we make best use of the day night tariff and do as much as we can during the cheaper hours.

Hello Jack

As google translate get us to most places we need to for understanding written text we sometimes lose the meaning in a literal translation.

The word horaria is actually Hourly in English.

I would suggest they are advising to allow the discount be applied they have to calculate the discount hourly somehow.

As I am no expert I can't confirm but if you set yourself up on the website https://www.iberdrola.es/webclifr/#/login to register is https://www.iberdrola.es/webclifr/#/inicioRegistro this should allow you to manage your account online without the need to talk to anyone and resolve your query.

I used this to change my tarrif to a night plan and it was simple to register and do (with a bit of help from Google Translate on some Questions)

I hope this helps.

Thanks to both people who replied. I wasn't aware I was on a day/night tariff, or that there were a choice of tariffs!

I'm happy with what I have, and I don't use electricity in any way which would benefit from using it at night instead of day, like storage heaters for example.

Are they saying I DO need to do something, or alternatively not do something, if I want to keep the status quo?

Mike, the way I read it is that they're offering 5% off the standing charge if you change from the single tariff to a dual tariff plan, which would be either the night plan or the one where you select eight hours at a reduced rate.

Don't be misled by the description that it's a night tariff - yes it does cut in at night, but the cheap rate is to 12.00 midday in winter and 1.00 pm in summer. We don't have any appliances that we specifically run at night, but the night tariff consistently saves us 20% on what the bills would otherwise be. I don't know anyone who has lost out by switching to the night tariff.

And yes, you do have to advise them if you don't want to take up the offer.

They offer you 5% disscount if you change your different tariff. On the mail i was not sure about price and it was a the day /  night tariff  but it is not since I went to a very good website www.ocu.org, they are a organitation that fights for clients against commpanies and goverment.

Hi Darran

Thank you for your reply. I did what you suggested and registered on the Iberdrola website. But I can't see where I can change my tariff plan. Which section is it exactly?

Thanks

If you're going for the night plan, sign in, then go to this page:

https://www.iberdrola.es/en/electricity/night-plan

Near the bottom of the page, you can have a look at the prices to make sure it will work best for you, then click SIGN UP...
