Hi everyone,

We were after a bit of advice if theres anyone who can help?

We have an account with the BBVA, but do not live in Spain (live in UK), periodically we are required to sent documents such as pay slips/proof of earnings to the bank, we presume its to confirm we do not live there.

Recently we received a message to send a pay slip in which i sent mine (I'm employed in the UK), but the Bank rejected my pay slip and responded by email with: "your english pay slip has to be translated to Spanish by an official translator (traductor jurado)". 

After 6 years of owning a home in Denia we have never been asked to have a pay slip translated, and we wouldn't know were to go to do this.

Would anyone be able to advise on this? Can this be done by Email? or better still if anyone knows of someone who could "officially" translate a payslip?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, that’s a strange one, why on earth would a bank want evidence of your income, as you do not live in Spain and are not subject to taxation, apart from non-residential tax?

Like Kimmy, we bank with Sabadell, we are non-resident and have never been asked to provide evidence of our UK income?

Thanks for your response Kim and Steve,

We did ask why this is required, apparently it’s just new BBVA Policy!

We had to produce pay slips that had to be authentically translated and signed by a registered translator here in the UK, in order for the Bank to accept it.

We had no choice as they were threatening to restrict our account, to what effect who knows...

It’s done now, but has left us feeling a bit uneasy with the BBVA!
