My 90 days non residency comes to an end in March. What happens if I cannot book a flight return in advance. Also will I be able to get a test in the airport?

You will have overstayed under Schengen after 31.3.21 and no one yet knows if action will be taken against anyone who overstayed.
I believe Alicante Airport are due to start offering tests from May.

It depends on where in the UK you are travelling to, there are daily flights from Madrid to London but less to other areas. If you cannot get a flight then maybe consider other options such as train or coach either to catch a ferry from north Spain or through France to Eurotunnel.

Hi Christine,
We can't tell you what will happen if you overstay, just what can happen:
The current Covid-19 restrictions in Spain do not prevent you from being allowed to repatriate to your country of residence.
Kind regards,
Kim
I think to be on the safe side I would be looking at travel well before my 90 days were up Just to make sure I do not fall foul of regulations and get restrictions on future entry

Christine22. The answer to your question may bring increased expense brought on by the UK government in the next couple of days. As of today (18/2/21) it is being reported in the British press that government advisors are on the point of recommending that Spain and the US are added to the Red list of countries. This would require those coming into the UK to enter quarantine hotels for 10 days at a cost of £1750. You would also need to show at least 2 negative Covid19 tests in that time period. If the second one was positive it then starts the whole process over again. I believe that this restriction will apply to ALL entrants be they visitors or UK citizens. Good luck. For those who require source of information. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9272591/Spain-red-list-countries.html
Hi I am in the same situation as you .I have now booked 5 flights for the end of March all of which have been cancelled .I also have to leave my accommodation by 1 at April . As to what will happen if we overstay our 90 days , you will be fined at border control ,then possibility of being denied re entry to Spain , let me know if you manage to get a flight
