Maybe, but who’s going to check this,as I know a lot of people who overstay and no one bothers, and have the authority’s got the time and resources to keep up with it. ?

I think a lot of people flout laws here in Spain because they think no-one is checking and no-one will find out, and also because they're cheapskates who don't want to part with the money it takes to be compliant and legal. Which is at the end of the day a personal decision. However, they should be aware that if involved in an accident that the police turn up to - usually a serious one - they will go through all your documentation and I can assure you they will show no mercy. It isn't like the UK when it comes to being caught here, heavy fines and possible loss of vehicle can be the result. When Brits get in illegally registered vehicles every day they should think about what will happen if I have that accident today?
The bottom line is if you would break the law in the UK then you will more than likely want to break it here, but if you're law abiding in the UK why break the law here?
