As we know all dwellings that are let as holiday accommodation must have a licence and certainly in the case of agencies, e.g. AirBnB, Owners Direct etc, then those websites must include the licence number on the advertisements.

I wonder, does the same apply for this forum? It could be argued that as it carries these advertisements then it is acting as an agent. If the required information is not displayed would this render the forum and/or it's owners liable for the penalties that the booking sites face?

Most people who legally let on this site will display their registration number. Those who informally let are usually challenged and if they are not registered the ad is taken down

It's a question I raised some time ago with Jan.

If someone posts in the correct forum, then they have to enter their license number before the system accepts the post.

If someone gets around it by claiming it's a long-term let but includes short-term in the description, or if they post in another forum to get around the requirement to include a license number, then I report that post to Jan and she removes it.

I'd encourage everyone else to do the same as myself.

Apart from the fact that I don't like people breaking the law, I don't want to risk this forum being closed because Jan can't pay a €70,000 fine and gets locked up!

Those were my thoughts too, glad that the matter has been clarified.

Hi

I am currently going through the process to get my mothers villa registered and licensed so that we can rent the property out this summer - we have started the process via an architect on Denia remotely. Can you direct me to a thread or forum on this site that covers the process in english of getting the relevant license and registration number? In particular for those who applied via Denia

Thanks

Kate

I know loads of people on my community who rent out cash in hand. The Spanish government don't have the resources or money to monitor all this.
