I own a house in Spain and I will be retiring in few months . I am planning to live in Spain in the future , but I am not well prepared for the retirement era .

I am a person who reads , and practice jogging , walk , like watching films , I tend to keep active and informed on social media

But that’s about All I know how to do .

With retirement My wife and I will have plenty of free time and we will have to manage it

I like to keep moving et doing physical work

And this is a habit acquired from my working career as I was a project  And maintenance engineer In industry .

Fir those people who have been through such retirement periods , what would you advise the newcomers to do to keep busy , and fill the time with various activities  , to do something useful for others too .

Thank you

You can come and weed my garden if you like, matey!

Seriously, think about joining an organisation like U3A Oliva. Google their website. There are plenty of physical activities and groups where you can help others. I run the walking football group, we play once a week in Oliva Sports Centre, and hopefully we'll be starting again in September or October. Come along.

Good luck with your move.

There are loads of volunteer services you could do especially charity work, dog walking etc.

I went back to college and did a bit more education (stuff I hadn't thought about before). That is accessible in Spain.

My wife and I joined a boat club. The club does more socialising than boating.

I have learnt a bit more DIY (put central heating into our Spanish home)

.... and as Herefordjack says, U3A is good

Don’t be too ambitious. You may find that in the heat of the summer months, it can be completely enervating and accomplishing a couple of small things in the mornings is quite sufficient; Trying to do much after the middle of the day is a recipe for feeling unwell and you will probably be grateful for a shady terrace and a good book!!!!

No.

We pay a few hundred Euros per year for a share in an old tub. That covers fees, maintenance etc.

The club spends much more time on menu-del-dia etc than on boating.

Like some of the others I would suggest joining the U3A. U3A Denia is 10€ per year. Go onto the website and you will see all the clubs and activities. Something for everyone and a great way to meet people.

Many ways to do charity work. With HELP, Denia and Marina Alta there are many opportunities. Shop, office, storeroom, hospital visiting etc.

You'll soon wonder how you had time to work ☺️☺️
